Step 1: Start our admissions process
Aspiring software engineers need to have grit, determination and motivation… so this what we’re testing for.
If you can commit to the admissions process for 2 weeks, then we’ll know that you have what it takes to complete the full 9 month course!
Completing the admissions process is a great way for you to ‘try’ your hand at coding, before you fully commit.
It’s important that each of our students complete the admissions process as it ensures that everyone in your cohort is just as motivated as you are!
Level 1
Use Google to complete mini challenges at your own pace.
(2 hours)
Level 2
Learn the basics, and build a website from the ground up.
(2 weeks)
Level 3
Complete a quiz based on the concepts covered in level 2.
(30 minutes)
Step 2: Submit a scholarship application
For each Holberton cohort, we are lucky enough to have both full and partial scholarships available for students.
In the past, companies that have provided scholarships include REA Group, Onepoint, Shine Solutions, Sportsbet & more!
To apply for a scholarship, we need you to answer a few short answer questions about yourself, then submit a 3-minute video answering some more questions.
Then, we’ll organise an interview between you and the scholarship provider(s) for our next cohort.
Note: this is not compulsory! If you would like to enrol in Holberton after Step 1, you can!
Step 3: Join a scholarship interview
Once you’ve submitted your scholarship application, we will organise an interview between you and our scholarship provider(s).
These interviews will either be individual, or group interviews.
Scholarships decisions will be made by the company, not Holberton, and will be based on your admissions scores, your scholarship application and the interview!
Not everyone will be fortunate enough to receive a full or partial scholarship, so put your best foot forward!
Step 4: Join Holberton
Once you’ve heard back about the result of your scholarship application, and have confirmed that you’d like to join us, we will invite you to a call with the rest of your cohort 1 week before the cohort start date.
In this call, we will cover the following points:
- Introduction to us: our staff & story
- What to expect & how to prepare
- The weekly schedule
- Q&A
